A Trip Down South

Last Saturday we headed down to Birmingham to visit Chris' family before going to Auburn on Sunday. We left that afternoon during Caroline's nap time and it worked out great as she slept the whole way there! We had a good visit with them that evening, then went to church with them the next morning. We took some pictures (of course!):

Then we had a wonderful Sunday dinner (made by Gigi) and left for Auburn during Caroline's nap time again (and she slept most of the way!). We arrived and checked into the Hotel & Conference Center, then dropped Chris off for his business etiquette meeting and dinner. Caroline and I were out on our own for the evening, and since she'd been in the car most of the afternoon, I decided to take her to a little park to run around. Well, all she wanted to do was swing! So I pushed her in the swing for a LONG time and let her run around a little, then we headed downtown to eat at Moe's. I ordered her a little chicken & black bean taco and she ate the WHOLE thing! and some carrots and a cup of yogurt too! This girl was hungry! After that I strolled her around downtown until it got really dark and it was time to head back and get to bed. It was a little strange being back in a college town with a baby, but it was fun walking around.
Monday morning we slept in and took some pictures around campus before heading to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Caroline didn't cooperate very well, but at least it wasn't as hot that early in the morning. Here are some we took in front of Samford Hall:

Caroline's FAVORITE thing in the hotel room was standing in the window sill and looking out at the cars and people. She kept asking to get "up" and would fuss when it was time to get her down:

Chris had a luncheon to attend, so Caroline and I did some shopping before time for lunch and nap. After nap Chris was working at the Career Fair so us girls did some more shopping and found some cute AU stuff! Then we met up with Chris for a late dinner then it was time for bed!

Tuesday morning we got up and headed back up to Huntsville, but were able to stop by Birmingham to eat lunch with Gigi. After we said our goodbyes, Caroline kept saying "bye-bye Gigi" all the way home! It was too cute!! I just wish she would have said it to her instead of after we left! Also on the way home, Caroline was getting a little cranky toward the end of the trip. I gave her some animal crackers (they were cinnamon graham crackers), and I was saying that it was a good snack because they didn't have a lot of sugar. Then Caroline said, "Sugar!" It was SO funny! Then she fussed a little later and we were almost home and I said to her, "Do you want to go home?" She said, "Home!" It was so cute that she picked out words from what I was saying and kept saying them. She's getting a lot better at repeating and saying new words and phrases. I'm working on a list of all the new things she's saying, so I'll have to post that later.

More pictures from the trip are on picasa in the B'ham/AU folder.

Aubrey will also say "Bye" after people have already left. It usually seems like she's shy, but maybe she figures if they're not gone then there's no reason to say Bye yet.
