Catching Up

I’d like to do a catch-up post on what we’ve been up to the last few weeks since my last post. Right after I took Luke to the doctor for his 18-month check-up, he started running a fever that night. I figured it was just from his shots but the next morning he was all snotty so I decided he picked up a cold or something. I waited a few days and he had fever again but it went away the next day. He was snotty and coughing at night for over a week plus he had a bad diaper rash, so I finally decided to take him back to the doctor. We couldn’t see our regular doctor, but we saw another one and she was great! She said his ears looked a little red, but weren’t infected yet and did a strep test on his bottom just to be sure since his feet had been peeling a little. No strep, so she gave me another Rx cream like I had for Caroline that works well when they have a lot of loose stools. She also prescribed an antibiotic, just in case his ears did get infected. He had been pretty fussy at night, so I decided to go ahead and fill it so he would be sure to be well for Christmas!

We had several Christmas parties and dinners the last couple of weeks and it was fun to get together with friends. Then on the last Tuesday of school, we got to meet Luke’s new teacher. I’m not sure if I have mentioned this before, but we decided to put Luke in Mother’s Day Out starting in January. Caroline’s school didn’t have a one-year-old class in the Fall since there weren’t enough kids, but they decided to open it back up in January if there was enough interest. I was glad because I wasn’t really ready to send him in August, but I feel like I’ll need it more this Spring now that he’s a little older and we’re moving again. There will be 2 other kids in the class and one more starting in February. I think he’ll have fun playing with all the new toys and going outside on the playground.

Then Thursday Caroline had her school Christmas program. She had been singing the songs for weeks whenever she would come home from school, but I wondered if she would actually sing once she got up on the stage in front of everyone. Well, she didn’t sing but at least she did the hand-motions! Unfortunately, she happened to be front and center, so there was no hiding behind anyone!

After the program, there was a Christmas lunch/party for the kids as well as a visit from Santa. Caroline insisted that she did NOT want to see Santa or sit in his lap, but we thought Luke might and we might get a picture – WRONG! Luke would have none of Santa either so we scurried on to the lunch party with no Santa pictures!IMG_0720
