Doctor visit

We took Caroline for her 6 month check-up and shots this week. She's growing like a weed (don't they all?) and weighed 15 pounds, 8 ounces (50th percentile) and measured 26 inches (60th). Her big ole coconut head was 44cm which was in the 80th percentile! Wow! The doctor said she looked great and was a little concerned she wasn't rolling over yet, but said try to give her a little more "tummy time" and if she wasn't doing it in a month or so, we could look into physical therapy. Well I wasn't really worried about it because she's been sitting up for so long and she's so strong, but I said we'd work on it. Then came the fun part - shots! This time she had 4 shots (we added the seasonal flu vaccine) plus the oral vaccine. I don't know if I've mentioned this to our blog readers, but Caroline has been having breath-holding spells. It only happens at work (so far) when she's really tired and just ready to go to bed but gets upset and cries really hard and starts to pass out. So then you have to blow in her face to make her start breathing again before she passes out (which will eventually make her breathe again too). Anyway, I warned the nurse that she might hold her breath when she got her shots since she hadn't napped, but I don't think she really believed me because sure enough, as soon as she poked Caroline with the first set, she screamed, turned red, and started closing her eyes. I quickly blew in her face and she came to and was fine! But the nurse FREAKED out! I told her she was okay and that's what she had done before at school, but she told the doctor and got her to come check her. Of course, she was fine and just went to sleep in my arms! Poor baby! So that was our excitement for the week!
