You can lead a horse to water...

... but you can't make her drink!

Caroline has been on a nursing strike the past several days :( At first I was afraid it was her ears although she was still on her antibiotic (it was the last day). So I kept trying but would end up giving her a bottle, which she would take just fine as long as she was sitting up a little. So I took her to the doctor yesterday after 2 days of refusing to nurse so they could check her ears again. Her ears looked fine (PTL!!) and the doctor said she could still be feeling some pressure, but she had her blood tested just in case. Her levels showed she was fighting a virus, so the doctor said it could be that, or her ears or teething. So who knows!! All I know is she does NOT want to nurse. She just cries and gets mad and pushes me away. I'm hoping it's just this virus and it'll be over in a few days, but in the back of my mind I'm afraid she's trying to wean herself of nursing and will give it up for good!! That makes me really sad since I wanted to nurse for at least another 2 months, but if I can keep pumping and giving her the bottles I guess it'll be okay. However, I know after awhile of pumping and no nursing, I won't be able to keep up. Hopefully by then she can make it a little longer on the milk reserves I have in the freezer and won't have to be on formula too long. If anyone has any advice or ideas on this, please let me know!!

We'll give an update on our big 9 month-old on Monday. Hope everyone has a good weekend!! Here's a picture of my attempt at "fixing" Caroline's hair:

I LOVE her hair!!! Ok, since you asked for insight, I'll tell you our experience. With both of my kiddos, they got to a point where they would get mad when nursing because they wanted to be able to look around. Trying a new position or positioning the chair where they could see more of the room helped. You can even sit her up on your lap and let her nurse. She may just be feeling independent. I did those things to adjust with my kids and Carter nursed for 15 months and Addie for 16. There's always hope! :)
