Travel & drama

We packed up and headed to Jackson last weekend to visit my parents. My sister and her husband were going to be in town, so we got to see them as well as my brother and his family. On the way we stopped off in Birmingham to pick up Chris' new (used) car (after 15 years, it was time for a new one!), a Chevy Malibu LTZ from Hertz's rent-2-buy program. We moved all our stuff to the new car and "test drove" it for the weekend. It was nice and even had room for all our baby gear, so we decided to buy it! Pics coming soon...
Anyway, we were a little late getting in after working half a day and getting the car, but we made it in time for dessert and visiting with everyone. Caroline enjoyed playing with her "new" toys at Dee Dee's and with her cousin Aubrey:

The next day we stayed home in the morning then went to see my grandmother that afternoon. She was doing surprisingly well and seemed much better than when we saw her at Christmas. She was sitting up and talking a bunch, and just seemed more like herself. Here she is with my sister and Caroline & me:

That night we headed over to my brother's for burgers. On the way, Caroline had a HUGE blowout! I mean there was a puddle of poop in her carseat! Yeah, gross! So we headed straight for the bathroom and got her all cleaned up. A few minutes later, my dad was sitting in the porch swing outside and it fell to the ground! He hollered so much we thought sure we were headed for a trip to the ER, but fortunately, he got up and walked around and was okay! He sat on ice during dinner and was sore, but ended up feeling better the next day. Always an adventure with the Howies!! Otherwise it was a fun evening and the cousins enjoyed playing together and the adults enjoyed catching up. Caroline ended up having another bad diaper on the way home and more the next day, so we didn't even get to go to church, but just packed up and headed home. She had it all day Sunday and some Monday morning so she couldn't go to school, but she was better that night. All in all it was a good but crazy weekend!! Pics are up on picasa!
