Firsts

Sorry for the long absence! I was waiting to get pictures from our camera phone of Caroline's first salon haircut and then I just got behind! Well, I was tired of the mullet and her bangs were getting long again after her very first haircut, so I decided she needed some shaping up. Here she is before with her long hair:

She did really well sitting still as long as she could have her paci and play with Chris' phone:

Here she is after with her big girl hair cut (I think she looks a little boy-ish, but I know it will grow out and look better):

She also got a new "big girl" bathtub. This one's flat on the bottom so she can sit straight but it also has a sloping side so I can lean her back to rinse her hair. She loves it! Here she is getting her hair washed:

Also, she's finally big enough for her forward-facing carseat. We installed it in Chris' car since we don't use it that often and she can still fit in her infant seat, which is rear-facing and safer for now. If she gains another pound or two, she'll be too big for it, so we've got another couple of months. Here she is trying it out:

We had fun last weekend with DeeDee here to visit. She was a big help and kept Caroline for us while I went to a baby shower and then on Sunday while Chris and I headed to the lake with our Sunday school class. She had a great time playing with Caroline and seeing all of her new tricks. I can't believe another month has passed since her birthday! She's really learning fast and can sign "more" and "eat" (her favorite things!) and now has added "duck" to her list of verbal words. She can point to your nose when asked and her own hair and points to her teeth when I tell her to go brush her teeth. I've taught her to leave her paci in her room after she wakes up and am working toward weaning her off it completely in the next month. I haven't quite decided how I'm going to do it since she's not old enough to understand how to give it away or throw it away like with older kids. I've read about cutting the ends off to make it not as appealing and giving it to them, so I'm thinking about doing that when the time comes. I know it'll be a rough couple of days (or weeks!), but I know she'll get over it and be fine without it. The sooner the better (and hopefully easier!).
I'll be working on posting new pics soon so be looking out for those. Hope everyone enjoys their fathers this weekend! What a blessing out Heavenly Father is to give such good gifts to His children! Thank Him today!
