This weekend we bought Caroline her first little pool! We had a coupon for Toys R Us from her birthday and when we went, they gave her a birthday crown and balloon. She rejected the crown (of course) but she LOVED the balloon. Anyway, we were hoping for some nice weather so she could go swimming, but it pretty much rained off and on all weekend. However, we did put her in the pool for a few minutes and she fussed at first (it was a little cold), but then she liked playing with her "pool toys." Here she is in her swim suit and shoes and in her pool:
Caroline finished her 2nd round of antibiotics last weekend and I was SO thankful not to have to give her medicine twice a day after 3 weeks of it! She seemed to be doing well and we had made it a whole week without going to the doctor - whohoo! I had planned to take her to the doctor this week to recheck her ears and get her shots. But then on Tuesday at school, Caroline's teachers told me she might have thrush (basically a yeast infection in your mouth). She already had a really bad diaper rash that I thought might be yeast from all the antibiotics, but I was treating that and was really hoping she wouldn't get thrush. But she did and so I called the doctor and they called in some meds for her mouth and bottom. So here we are again, back on medicine for the next 10 days! I am thankful there is medicine to treat it, but it seems like one thing leads to another! Maybe next week she can finally get her 12 month shots (at 13 months) and hopefully her ears will be clear. If they're not, we are definitely taking her to a chiropractor. It really helped my ears when I was younger, so if these meds aren't working, I'm not giving her any more (for now)!
Also this week, Caroline is moving up from the Infant 2 room to the Wobbler room at school. She was supposed to be visiting her new room this week (for an hour or two each day), but she missed the times on Tues. and Wed. with her thrush, so today was her first time to visit. She was only there for an hour, and she did okay the first half, but then they went outside and she got really upset and cried until I picked her up to go home. They don't go outside in the infant rooms, so I think she just wasn't used to it. Poor baby was so hot! I know she'll be fine, but I felt bad for her (and her teachers!). Tomorrow she'll be in her new room the whole time I'm at work, so hopefully she'll get used to the room and teachers before they go back outside at the end of the day. In this room, she's a "big girl" and will sleep on a cot (we have to get a nap mat) and have a longer class time and even have a "swim day" where they wear there swim gear and play in little pools and sprinklers. I'll keep you posted on how all that goes!
