Sick House

There's a good reason for my blogging absence: sickness! Thursday night I was feeling fine and took a shower and was getting ready for bed and started feeling nauseous. I just figured I was over-tired, so I went on to bed. Well, I couldn't get to sleep for feeling sick and I finally had to rush to the bathroom and throw up. I felt a little better but still couldn't sleep. I took a few sips of water and had to rush to the bathroom a few hours later. I finally slept after that and felt some better, but was just really weak. Chris took Caroline to school for me so I could rest and when I called in to work to tell them I was sick and not coming, they said some other people I worked with had called in with the same thing. So I knew it was a stomach virus and not something I ate. I was really queasy and tired all day, so it was good to rest and be home by myself. The next morning I was still a little weak, but felt much better. I was able to eat and by that afternoon I felt pretty good.

Chris got some tickets from work to see the Star Wars exhibit at the Space & Rocket center with a free dinner, so I was glad I was better so we could still go that evening. Caroline did great, despite the fact that it poured down rain and we couldn't have a stroller at the exhibit (so she just ran around). Then we ate dinner and I went on home with Caroline to get her to bed while Chris went to see the I-max movie. Caroline hadn't eaten much for dinner, just some carrots I brought with us, so I fixed her some chicken nuggets when we got home. Before she could eat I had to change her diaper and it looked a little loose. After I changed her and put her down, she started throwing up! I was SO glad we were home and not still in the car or at the exhibit! I cleaned her up and gave her a bath and she had another bad diaper. Then she was so tired I went on and put her to bed and before I could leave the room, she was sick again! Poor baby! I felt so bad for her, especially since I gave it to her! So I changed her sheets and she laid on the twin bed and fell back asleep and I put her back in her crib. She woke up one more time in the night and was sick, but no more after that, just a few bad diapers that morning. So I gave her some Pedialyte little by little and she was able to hold that down all day with some crackers, and by dinner she was able to eat a good meal. I was so glad it wasn't worse for her! And so far Chris hasn't gotten it, so hopefully we're in the clear!

I forgot to mention that Caroline has done great without her paci! That week we took it away she had it once at school, then she was doing so good at home, I took it away from there too and she did fine! So we've been paci-free for 2 weeks! And she's doing well without it in the car too, I'm just having to figure out other ways to occupy her. It was a LOT easier than I thought it would be to take it away, and I'm SO glad we went ahead with it now, rather than waiting until she got too attached! Good luck to all you moms out there who are going through this stage! I hope this can be an encouragement to you!
Our little diva loves to tote around her purse and her phone these days:

She'll ask to hold mine when we're out and about. Such a girlie girl! And she'll hold the purse hand up to her head and wave with the other like she's going somewhere - it's too cute!
I've put some new pictures up on picasa in the August folder - enjoy!

So glad she has become a girlie-girl. Mom thinks I am over the top, but I think we should get her a mini Prada purse:) haha
