Caroline is 18 months old today! I can’t believe we’re half way to her second birthday already! She had her well visit this morning and cried when they called her name before she even got back to the room! So she was none too pleased when the nurse weighed and measured her. Here are her stats:
weight: 25lbs (60th percentile)
height: 33 inches (85th percentile)
head circ: 48cm (85th percentile)
She’s really porked up in the last 3 months as she’s never been above the 50th percentile for weight! Funny thing is, she’s been more picky lately, so I was a little surprised. She did better when the doctor listened to her chest and checked her ears (which she usually hates!). The doctor said her ears looked good this time, but if she has another ear infection this year, she’ll refer us to an ENT doctor. She also passed her M-CHAT (modified checklist for autism in toddlers), which I wasn’t surprised at since she’s so talkative and interested in people and plays appropriately, but since I studied autism disorders and worked with autistic children, I appreciated it. She also got some more vaccines as well as her seasonal flu shot. She cried really hard and held her breath a little, but then she breathed in so it wasn’t too bad.
We were worried about how she’d do with the time change since she had been waking up early for 2 weeks, but the week before she started sleeping in again, so it wasn’t so bad.
Caroline’s vocabulary has really exploded in the past month and she’s saying more phrases now. Her favorite lately has been “I see trucks” or “I see airplane” or “I see baby”, etc. She’s also been saying, “No” for the past couple of weeks, but it’s a nice “no” at least. Mostly if you ask her if she wants something, she’ll say it, but if she does want it she just repeats the last word you said. She’s also doing really well drinking out of a regular cup without spilling (much) and eating with a fork or spoon:
I’m 10 weeks along now and feeling better as far as my nausea goes. As long as I eat when I need to and rest, I feel pretty good, but that’s not always easy or possible to do! I’m looking forward to quitting work early next year so I can have some time with Caroline before the baby comes! Hope everyone is enjoying the fall weather – I know I am!
I’ve put some more pictures up on picasa, so look for 2 new folders.
