It’s a…

BOY!!

Wow, this week has been SUCH a whirlwind! Sarah arrived Monday afternoon in spite of the snow and my parents made it on Wednesday. Then Thursday was the BIG day – my ultrasound! Us girls had been planning for the nursery and Caroline’s big girl room and had lists going for what we would need if it was a boy or girl. We were sort of banking on it being another girl so we wouldn’t have to re-do anything and could re-use everything from Caroline’s nursery. So we were a little in shock when we found out it was a boy and we would basically have to start over with everything! We were really excited though, and I think it’ll be fun to have one of each since we’re probably not going to have anymore kids. And Caroline is so active I think she’ll enjoy having a little brother to be “wild” with! Ha!

Here’s a couple of pics of our little guy:

After the ultrasound we went to lunch and headed home to take naps before going out looking for boy things. We got a few things that evening, but did a bunch more shopping over the next couple of days. I needed to decide on some new crib bedding so we could pick a paint color for the new nursery (which is the former bird/guest room). I decided on this bedding and ordered it online so I hope it looks true to this picture:

We decided to paint just 2 walls of the room blue so it wouldn’t be SO much since it’s such a big room. I really like the way it turned out. Here’s one of the blue walls and rearrangement (for now):

The crib will go in the left corner and the shelves will go somewhere else. We’re planning to work on moving Caroline out of the crib by the end of March so she’ll have time to get used to her big girl bed before the baby comes.

On Friday my sister and I did a little shopping in the morning and then painted while Caroline took her afternoon nap. That night we went out for my birthday dinner and Caroline had a COMPLETE meltdown in the car on the way there. I thought maybe she was just hungry, but she was SO fussy even while we were eating. Chris hurried up and ate and took her on home so me and my family could (try to) enjoy the rest of my birthday dinner. Then Chris had gotten me a cookie cake (my FAVE!) so we had that for dessert when we got home:

Caroline was doing much better after a dose of Motrin, so I thought maybe her gums were bothering her. She has become such a “big girl” lately and is saying so many more sentences and phrases. My favorite of the last few weeks that just melts my heart is when I give her something she wants or asks for and she says with no prompting, “Thank you, Mommy.” It’s SO sweet! I hope I can enjoy these last few months with just her before I have 2 babies to love on!

My family is leaving tomorrow and I know I'll be sad to see them go! They have been such a big help this week and have helped me get SO much done! Y'all are the best - thank you!!!
