More sickness and SNOW!!

So far 2011 hasn’t been treating us too nicely. As soon as Chris was getting over his virus, Caroline started running a fever and ended up having the flu! Despite getting a flu shot this Fall, she did indeed have influenza B, but the doctor said she’d seen a lot of cases even with the vaccine, and that it shouldn’t be too bad. We got her started right away on Tamiflu and she’s doing much better now. Well, later that day I also started feeling bad. My slight cough got worse over the weekend and I had a terrible runny nose, then major congestion. I never ran a fever, but they called me in some Tamiflu since I’m pregnant and was exposed to the flu from Caroline.

So we were a pretty pitiful bunch over the weekend, then Monday morning woke up to 9 inches of snow! IMG_3919

Caroline enjoyed her first big snow and was even feeling good enough to go out in it for a bit:

I was still feeling ill and was thinking of going to the doctor, but everything was closed because of the snow AND my sister Sarah was to fly in from Texas that afternoon. We weren’t even sure she would make it in all the snow, but miraculously, she did! We trudged thru the snow to the airport (fortunately only 5 minutes away) and made it back with Sarah! We stayed in that night and watched Auburn win the National Championship – WHOOHOO and WAR EAGLE!!!! What a game!! We’re so proud of our Tigers!

Then Tuesday we rested at home and Chris braved the snow to get in a half day of work – he was getting a little stir-crazy after being at home for a week and a half! Then Wednesday we got everything ready for my parents to come to town, but it was so cold after the snow that there was ice on the roads! We were a little worried, but they made it just fine and were welcomed to our winter wonderland!

Now we’re just excited about my ultrasound tomorrow and busy planning and shopping for Caroline’s big girl room :) Pictures coming soon!
