Happy Thanksgiving!

We headed out to Brevard, North Carolina again this year for Thanksgiving with Chris’ family and extended family. Chris’ grandfather is in a nursing/rehab home so we all stayed in a hotel close by. It was a long drive, usually six hours, but it took us 8 since we had to stop twice to nurse Luke, eat lunch, and for potty stops. Not too bad with an infant and toddler! We were glad to be there and see everyone and a bunch of us went to dinner together. Here’s our little turkey from this year and 2 years ago:

The next day was Thanksgiving Day and we had reservations for lunch at a hotel/resort place in the woods. It was delicious! They didn’t have much toddler-friendly food, but Caroline ate some mashed potatoes and bread and had fun running around outside afterward. Here’s a group shot minus one sibling and family of cousins:

After that we headed over to the nursing home to see Chris’ grand-dad and for him to see Caroline and meet Luke for the first time. It was nearing naptime and we had a meltdown from Caroline, but then she perked up and was pleasant at the home. On our way back to the hotel, both kids fell asleep so we kept on driving up into the Pisgah National forest so they could get a good nap in. We saw some beautiful trees among the mountains, a big waterfall and Sliding Rock. Caroline woke up just in time to see the last two things and then we headed back to the hotel and had sandwiches for dinner.

Then Friday was Chris’ grandfather’s birthday so we hung around in the morning, then went to have a little party for him at the nursing home. It was fun to have everyone there and Caroline had a blast playing with her cousins:

Before we left, I went out to the car to nurse Luke. I was almost done when Chris brought Caroline to the car. I figured she had to use the potty but he said her pants were wet. I thought maybe she had had an accident and her pull-up had leaked, but it was pretty much a blow-out! I had extra pull-ups but no extra pants since she’s been doing so well, so we had to leave the party and go buy some more pants! We did a little shopping while we were there and then met everyone for dinner.

Most people were headed back home on Saturday, so we just hung out and had a laid-back day. We went to the mall to let Caroline play and run around some and ate lunch while Chris’ mom stayed with her dad. Then we went back to the hotel for naps and to watch the Iron Bowl. Auburn lost, but WAR EAGLE anyway!

Then the next day we loaded up the car after breakfast and headed home. It was an even longer trip home with the rain and all the traffic, but we made it after 9 LONG hours!

We have so much to be thankful for this year and praise God for His goodness to us!
