Luke at 14 months

I wanted to do a little update on Luke and what he’s been doing lately. A few days after having the fever last week, he started getting bumps on his feet and hands and was SUPER fussy Thursday night and Friday. He ended up having Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease, but I didn’t take him back to the doctor because I knew what it was and they can’t do anything for it! It did, however, make us have to cancel his appointment with the allergist/immunologist yesterday until his blisters heal. We’ll try to get another appointment for early next week.
In addition to being sick, Luke’s been getting two new teeth up top next to his 2 front ones, and I think he’s working on some molars. He’s also been running around like a big boy and climbing things and chasing his big sister. His favorite thing is books! He loves to bring them to you and sit in your lap while you read, or he’ll look at them on his own. So different from Caroline who will hardly sit still for a short book! He also loves to take a bath and has a fascination with fans (much like Caroline at this age). And he loves to play peek-a-boo and will say, “Boo!”

He’s around 25 pounds and is wearing all 18-month size clothes and size 5 shoes. He is eating more table food now and drinks cold soy milk (and some soy formula) from a hard-tip sippy cup. His favorite table foods lately are chicken nuggets, hot dog, cubed ham and turkey, and strawberries. He still won’t eat any soft veggies or other fruit, but I keep trying!
His schedule these days is: wake up around 8:30 or 9 (just the last few weeks since he’s been sick!), drink a little soy milk and eat some cheerios and big jar of baby food fruit (although he’s been refusing it lately), snack around 10:30-11, lunch of some table food meat and baby food veggies and fruit around 12-12:30, nap 1:30-4:30 (most days), snack, dinner around 5:30-6 of baby food dinner and soy yogurt, more soy milk & formula, then bed 7:30-8.
He’s been saying a few more words/sounds lately and I wanted to record his progress: Dada/Daddy, Mama, uh-oh, thank you, boo, please (peas), night-night (nigh-nigh), milk (he just says “k”), eat, and up.
One not-so-fun thing he does when he’s hurt or mad is he screams and bangs his head on the floor (or the wall, couch, etc.). I know it’s just a little fit or tantrum and just ignore him until he calms down, but I stop him when he does it on the tile floor or other hard surface! He does this and Caroline would hold her breath, so I guess it’s just how they each deal with their frustrations! Why can’t my kids just cry?! Hopefully it’s just a phase and he’ll outgrow it or it’ll get better when he can talk and express his feelings more with words.
Love this sweet little boy and look forward to seeing him grow up and learn new things every day!
