The Hodges Family: The Big 3-0!

It was a (cold) dark and stormy night… and I turned 30! It was a great day, despite the bad weather. But I was born when it was cold and rainy, so it was only fitting. Enjoy some previous birthdays over the years…

My 21st, when Chris and I started dating!

My parents had planned to come up for the weekend and be with us for my birthday, but since my mom had been so sick and was still recovering, they decided to come another week. So it was just me and the kids during the day, and we needed to make a quick grocery run, in the freezing rain! They’re usually pretty good at the store, but it always seems to end in screaming and hitting/fighting, so I’m usually in a hurry to get my stuff and get out! But that day they were ANGELS! They were sitting next to each other in the carts with the racecar front, and they were hugging each other and saying, “Cheese!” I didn’t pay much attention at first, and just figured they would stop if I got my camera phone out, but they kept doing it! It was so cute!

Then Caroline put her arm around Luke and he laid on her shoulder and she was stroking his face. It was so sweet and people were stopping and commenting and asking how old they were and if they were always like that! I told them it was my birthday miracle!

And they were so sweet the whole time that I almost wanted to keep shopping even after I was done, ha! And they kept being sweet in the car and Caroline kept saying, “Buddy wants to love on me, because he loves me! But he can’t because he’s far away from me in the car.” And, “We just love each other, Mommy!” What blessings from God!!
Then when Chris got home from work, he brought me roses, a card, some candy, and a cookie cake! We had gotten a babysitter to keep the kids that night because Chris had planned a dinner party for me and my girlfriends :). I decided I wanted to do something different for my birthday since it was a big one, so Chris thought of the Melting Pot, which is a fondue restaurant. It was so good and so much fun! He also got balloons and chocolate-dipped strawberries from the restaurant for the table and brought the roses too.
