Deciding on a theme was a little difficult because I wanted something that they both liked but that was also for boys and girls. Mickey & Minnie turned out to be perfect because they had both started watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse around the time I was deciding so that was it! I think Caroline would have really liked a princess-themed party, but I couldn’t decide on a boy theme that went along with that. But I’ll keep that in mind for next year when I might do separate parties!
I thought the invite turned out cute:
Chris’ parents and brother came to town the night before, but I had already planned to take Caroline to see Disney on Ice that evening, so Chris & Luke went out to dinner with his family while I took Caroline to eat with some friends and then to the show. We had fun at dinner except they dropped my pizza and had to remake it, and I didn’t have time to eat it before the show, so I got it for free! Not too bad! Here are the sweet girls ready for princesses!
Caroline wasn’t too sure about the show at first, and held her ears because it was loud, but that only lasted a few minutes.
Then she kept asking when the princesses were going to come out! I had never been before, so I didn’t really know what to expect or what to tell her. But they eventually came out! First they did the story of the Princess and the Frog, which we hadn’t seen so didn’t really know about. Then came Cinderella so that helped that she was familiar with that story.
Then last was Tangled with Rapunzel and it was great! Caroline knew that story the best and loved seeing the dancers flying around on the “hair” hanging down from the rafters.
Then the next morning was the party! All I really had to do to get ready was ice the cupcakes and get everything in the car & set up before the guests arrived. We made it just in time and I think the kids had a blast!
Gigi made them these adorable shirts:
Sweet friends!
Caroline enjoyed the block pit, especially jumping into it!
We ordered pizza for the kids for lunch, then for dessert I made cupcakes with pink icing and mini Oreo ears for Minnie Mouse:
Then for the “boy ones,” I did rice krispie treats in the shape of Mickey Mouse, then dipped the ears in chocolate. We ended up giving these out with the favors and the kids just ate the cupcakes.
Then we sang to our kids and let everyone play a little more before it was time to go home.
When we got home, it was time to open presents! The kids really made a haul!
Luke finally got in on the action:
They got some really great presents and have loved playing with everything! It’s been a perfect way to start the summer with lots on new things to do :).
I’ve put more pictures from the party on our picasa site in the May 2013 folder, plus I’ve caught up on this year (finally!) and have added folders from Jan-May.
