We had a very full weekend! Our regular babysitter was getting married and Caroline was the flower girl. She looked so adorable in her pretty white dress and accessories!
The rehearsal and dinner were on Friday night and that helped her to be comfortable and know what she was supposed to do for the real deal. We even watched our wedding video that afternoon to kind of prepare her and show her what a wedding was since she hadn’t really seen one before. She was excited and did great!
Being silly at the rehearsal dinner:
Our favorite babysitter and bride-to-be!
Then at the wedding the next day…
The wedding was beautiful and sweet and thankfully short! Caroline did great and was only a little unsure walking out. While she was up there, the bride’s mother told her to sit down and I think she was a little scared, but she saw me sitting near the front and was fine. Then the reception was at Tate Farms so we changed the kids’ clothes so they could play on the playground. The weather was beautiful – a perfect day to get married!
We hurried and ate then left the reception early to head out to Decatur for the Alabama Jubilee balloon glow where they light up hot air balloons after the sun sets. We got there just in time and it was just beautiful!
It was super crowded and the kids were very tired, so it probably wasn’t the best time to go, but it all worked out in the end and we were glad we got to see it.
On Sunday, we went to church and out to lunch afterwards. Then we decided to drive around a neighborhood where we had been looking at houses the day before. There was a house that was “Coming Soon” for sale that we wanted to get a better look at and get the address. Well, the owners were outside and saw us slowly driving by and came up to see if we wanted to get more info and look around inside! It was so nice of them! We found out they even went to our church! It was a nice house, but a little bigger than we needed and the bedrooms were all on the upper level or the basement. There was a huge level backyard with big trees which was really nice, but a lot to keep up! But we’ll keep it in mind as we look around.
Then we went to register for the Cotton Row 10K race that Chris wanted to participate in on Monday, then headed home for (late) naps. It was so late that Luke fell asleep in the car and wouldn’t nap when we got home, but he stayed in his bed at least.
I skipped nap to make some cookie bars to take to a Sunday school cookout we were going to at a friend’s house. We got the kids up after a little while and headed to the cookout. It was lots of fun and the kids enjoyed playing with each other outside.
Then on Memorial Day, Chris ran the 10K race early that morning. There were lots of people and big hills and he ran it in about 1 hour, 4 minutes! I was so proud of him for even finishing as I couldn’t even do 1 mile! We ran a couple of errands but didn’t do much the rest of the day except we ALL took a 3 hour nap!
