Luke Turns 2

Can’t believe our little man is 2 years old today! It seems like he’s been 2 for a while since he’s so big, but at the same time it doesn’t seem like 2 years since he was born! We had a fun, but fairly low-key day. We got Luke up and dressed and brought him down to open presents before breakfast and he was a total grump! He didn’t want to sit down (in his new chair!) but he finally did and Caroline “helped” him open his gifts. I think it was partly because it was out of his normal routine and partly because he has an infection called C-diff (short for Clostridium difficile) which is an overgrowth of bad bacteria in the bowels (often from antibiotics killing off good bacteria) and causes diarrhea. Lovely, I know! But we finally got medicine for him today so hopefully he’ll be feeling better soon!
Anyway, he perked up a little when he realized he was getting fun new things :)

Caroline enjoyed his new toys too, of course!

I love this picture of my two guys even though it’s blurry because they’re making the same smirk!

The kids played a while and then we went to a birthday party of some friends whose little girl was born the day after Luke. The kids all had a blast playing in their backyard and eating hot dogs and cake and cookies!

Luke was attached to this Mickey Mouse and just wanted to sit in the sun room and hold it, ha!

They had adorable cookies and cake to go along with the Mickey Mouse theme and the kids gobbled it up:

Even though the party wasn’t for Luke, it was fun to have a party to go to on his actual birthday and not have to do it myself! When we left the party we picked up Luke’s medicine and headed home for naps. I ran a few errands and then rested a while before the kids got up. Then we just hung out at home and ate dinner, then had cupcakes/candles and singing for the birthday boy:

Daddy helped him blow:

Then Caroline reminded us that she didn’t get to blow out a candle on her birthday, so we humored her and sang and let her blow out her number 4!

Luke wasn’t so sure about the icing on his cupcake (we ate some yesterday with no icing) and didn’t like it on his hands, but he finally warmed up to it and ate it in the end.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LUKE!! We love you, Buddy!!
(I’ll update on what he’s been doing lately and how big he is after his well visit on Tues).
