The doctor said he’s looking and doing fine. He did have to get one shot (Hepatitis A), but he won’t have to have any more until he’s 4. He cried a bunch while the doctor was looking at him and before and after his shot, but he calmed down at the promise of a sucker, ha! He’s had a few days of his medicine now, and I’m finally seeing some improvement today.
Luke is officially two and definitely has the “terrible twos” attitude! His favorite word is “no” and sometimes he’ll say it even if he means “yes” so it’s hard to know what he really means! His screaming and behavior has seemingly worsened in the past month or so, and I thought it might be from his molars coming in, or just all the changes and craziness that has been going on with my surgery and house hunting, etc. Well, the doctor did see that he was getting THREE of his molars in now so that, added to his tummy troubles, would explain much of his irritableness as of late. Despite all that, he really is a sweet boy and can be so pleasant at times.
We’re still struggling with his picky eating, especially since he’s been sick. He won’t eat even his favorite foods lately, which have been chicken nuggets, soy yogurt, turkey, and ham. The boy won’t even try ice cream or sherbet! But he is still eating enough to get by and drinking plenty of soy milk to keep his belly full! We even suspect he’s outgrown his milk allergy and have tried rubbing yogurt on his face and given him a few bites with no reaction. I don’t want to push it too much while he’s sick, though. Now if we could just figure out about the peanuts allergy! I’m too afraid to try it at home, but I might next time we are planning to go to the doctor anyway or ask the allergist about it next time we go.
Luke has a few obsessions and compulsions, much like Caroline did at his age, but perhaps a little more so! He LOVES to close doors and he LOVES drains! Not the sink or tub drains but the drains on the street or sidewalks that have covers. Every time we go on a walk he points to all the drains and most of the time has to walk or step on them too. He really doesn’t like to have his hands dirty and will make me wipe them off; he loves washing his hands too.
He loves music and loves to sing! He will bob his head or start dancing when he hears music. He can now sing several songs recognizably: “Jesus Loves Me”, “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”, “Where Is Thumbkin”, “Jesus, Lamb of God” (All In All), “ABCs”, “Awesome God”, and now “Happy Birthday”. He has such a sweet voice and it’s so cute when he sings, but he is SUCH a booger whenever I try to video it, he stops! Or if he is singing good, sometimes Caroline will interrupt or start singing along loudly with him and he’ll stop. I’ve gotten a few clips in the car, trying to hide my phone camera, but I’d really like him to just let me video it one day.
He doesn’t watch much TV (he’s too busy!), and usually just watches a few minutes of whatever Caroline picks, but he does love the show “Yo Gabba, Gabba!” Sometimes he’ll watch a little of Dora or Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He’s just in the last week or so sat still for longer periods of time. But he’d really rather play or wander around and that’s fine with me!
He really is a sweet boy and loves his mama! And his big sister too! He loves following her around and doing whatever she’s doing. Even playing with her purses and dolls!
