Caroline started taking swimming lessons this week (pics to come), so we were busy with that every morning earlier in the week, then Thursday we headed down to Birmingham to spend the long weekend with Chris’ family. It was raining off an on, but the fireworks were scheduled to go off, rain or shine! So we braved the weather and set up in our favorite spot to watch “Thunder on the Mountain.” The rain held off and it was even a little cool! SO unusual for July in the South! Anyway, the kids had fun playing in the back of the van again and enjoyed the fireworks show. Caroline hadn’t napped that day and was so tired she fell asleep on the way home!
Then Friday, Chris and I took the kids to the McWane Science Center (basically, a children’s museum) that morning and they had a blast! 
They loved the water features there, and climbing and playing.

It was a huge place with several levels and we were there a few hours and didn’t even get to do everything! We’ll definitely have to go back again!
Then on Saturday morning, Chris and I took the kids to visit with some good friends from our college days and their kids. It was SO much fun catching up with them and seeing our kids play together! We hope to get together with them more often!
We headed back home on Sunday after church and lunch.
