School Program and Mini Vacay

The kids had their Thanksgiving program at school on Friday morning. They sang a bunch of songs and then did a little story – it was very cute! Caroline did great and sang the songs and did the motions, but Luke and his class just sort of sat there looking around. But nobody cried so that was good!

I’m sad we didn’t get any individual pics afterwards, but the kids all went back to their classrooms to be picked up so that made it hard.

Since the program was in the morning, Chris took off work for the rest of the day. We had decided the night before to take a little overnight trip to Chattanooga to go to the Aquarium and the Children’s Museum there. After the program we headed home to pack up the car and eat an early lunch so we could get on the road. We arrived just after 2 (right during nap time), but the kids were wound up and ready to go to the Aquarium. We enjoyed seeing all the fish and other marine life there, and I think the kids mostly had fun running around!

Caroline loved holding the butterflies:

And they both enjoyed watching the penguins:

Watch out for the spider crabs!

Exploring the deep blue sea:

After the ocean journey exhibit, the kids ran around outside for a bit and we enjoyed the beautiful weather!

Then we went thru the river journey exhibit (quickly) and let the kids run around outside by the river steps while we decided on where to go for dinner. We ended up at Big River Grill and it was great! After dinner we walked back to the hotel and finally got the kids to bed and we crashed too!

The next morning we headed over to a fun little place across the street from our hotel for breakfast and the kids loved their Mickey pancakes. Then we walked around the hotel for a little bit – it was built antebellum but most of it was destroyed and redone.

It still had some old phone booths and Caroline thought it was so fun and “called DeeDee.”

Then we toured the ballroom with all its crystal chandeliers and mirrors.

We checked out of our room and loaded up the car and headed over to the children’s museum. It was SO fun! There was so much to do that I don’t think we even got to do it all! The kids really enjoyed the playground and water-play area:

And the Salvation Army tents were also a big hit:

Then we played on the train…

… and then pretended to be bees!

Caroline was the queen bee and Luke was the beekeeper:

Then we climbed up several stories to this high tower where we could see all over town:

We did a ton of other things, but I think this is where I quit taking pictures, ha! It was a great place and I think we’ll have to come back and do the rest of it sometime.

After the museum, we at a late lunch at Lupi’s and headed back home. We were thinking of doing Lookout Mountain, but after our crazy night and busy morning, we were all tired out! We’ll save that for another trip too!
