We had a great Christmas this year! The kids (especially Caroline) are getting old enough now to be really excited about Christmas and that makes it more fun for us grown-ups too! We took them to see the movie Frozen the weekend before and they both enjoyed it. Luke got a little restless, but he did ok. They love the music and ask to listen to it in the car. The night before Christmas Eve, Caroline woke up in the night and threw up :(. She had just had a little bug the week before, so I felt bad that she was sick again! She was only sick twice in the night and felt good the rest of the day and was able to eat, etc. so we decided she could go to the Christmas Eve service at church that evening since she would be sitting with us anyway. Well, she sat with us and fell fast asleep on my shoulder because she didn’t nap that day and needed it after being up in the night! After the service we took the kids to the Dollar store for them to pick out a gift for each other – it was fun seeing what they picked!
The next morning the kids slept in a little but were excited to go downstairs for breakfast and presents! Buddy was a little grumpy about pictures, but he perked up for the presents!
Ready to open!
Diving in!
Luke opened his talking Minion present first and wouldn’t open anything else! We had to convince him that we wouldn't take it away, but that he would get that and other things, ha!
Caroline loved all her princess and baby things:
And Buddy still with his minion – he finally opened up his other gifts:
And my sweet hubby got me a Kindle :)
After the kids played with their new toys for a while, Chris and I got busy cooking a big Christmas dinner for his family, who arrived right around lunch time. We enjoyed filets and honey-baked ham, green beans, sweet potato casserole, cornbread dressing, salad and rolls. I’m sad I didn’t get a picture, but it was quite a spread!
Then we exchanged gifts with Chris’ family. I think Luke had warmed up more to the idea of opening gifts, but was pretty tired from all the action. He LOVED his Mickey Mouse though!
And Caroline was excited about her Cinderella dress and pint-sized broom and dust pan to help me clean up the kitchen :)
Mr. Grinch and his love of pictures, ha!
We had fun with Chris’ family the next few days. Caroline helped Gigi make brownies and we went on a walk at Big Spring Park downtown and fed the ducks and walked around the Tinsel Trail again.
We also got to do a little shopping and went to a movie. It was a fun week! And while we were all together and before we parted ways for a long time, we took some family pics. The kids actually did great!
The rest of the pics are on the picasa site.
Happy New Year!! Can’t wait to see what 2014 brings!
