Luke at 3

I can’t believe my baby is 3! Now I have no more babies OR toddlers! It’s a little sad not to have little ones in the house anymore, but the kids are getting to such a fun (and easier) stage and play so well together that I wouldn’t want to go back to diapers and bottles right now!

Luke is such a big boy now, not only in height but talking so much and being potty-trained makes him seem so much more so. He is wearing a size 9 shoe and 3T or 4T shirts, but 24mo or 2T shorts since he’s so thin! Potty training went pretty well for the most part, and he’s even been staying dry during naps and even some at night. I feel like his behavior is a lot better than it was last year, but he still has some anger/emotional issues we’ve been working on. It’s especially bad when Caroline pushes his buttons or when we correct him or discipline him and he’ll just get so angry. But he is such a sweet heart for the most part, especially when he’s by himself and everything is calm!

He loves his big sister and doing whatever she does, even if it includes playing princesses! He still really likes music and singing and sometimes even dancing. He has enjoyed taking gymnastics this Spring and Summer and I’m hoping it will channel some of that energy and aggression. His latest favorite thing to do is to spray! I got the kids little water bottles and they both love to be outside spraying!

He’s still a VERY picky eater, but it has gotten some better. It seems his milk allergy is finally gone and we got him to try ice cream a few months ago. He’s learned what he’s been missing! But he mostly still eats the same few things: chicken nuggets, hot dogs, turkey (sometimes), French fries, dry cereal, waffles/pancakes, fruit, chips, soy yogurt, and anything sweet!

I’ve asked him the birthday questions this year, and got some interesting answers and some he didn’t want to answer so I answered for him the best I could:

1.  How old are you? 3
2. What makes you happy? Singing
3.  What is your favorite animal? bear
4.  What is your favorite thing to eat? French Fries!
5.  What is your favorite thing to do? Lock his toy doors
6.  What is your favorite TV show? Jake & the Neverland Pirates
7.  What are you really good at? Jumping
8.  What is your favorite movie?  Lorax
9.  What is your favorite song?  Awesome God
10.  What is your favorite color?  Red and blue
11.  Who is your best friend?  Jack
12.  What do you and your mom do together?  Rock
13.  What do you and your dad do together?  Lock doors (at church)
14.  What is your favorite sport?  “the big fan” (gymnastics)
15.  What is your favorite place to go?  Chick-fil-a
16.  What is your favorite book? Lorax & The Big Red Barn
17.  What do you want to be when you grow up?  Engineer

For the kids’ well check-ups this year, I thought it would be easier just to take them together since their birthdays are only 3 weeks apart and our doctor is now farther away from our new house. Well, I was wrong! They did okay in the beginning with the nurse, but then got WOUND UP! When the doctor came in, they were bouncing off the walls and being so loud and crazy that I couldn't’ even hear what the doctor was saying! Then when it was Luke’s turn to get examined, he freaked out and was screaming and crying because he didn’t want the doctor to look in his ears! I could not get out of there fast enough! Except I forgot to ask for their blue card for school and I had to go back, AHH!

Here are their stats from the crazy visit:

Caroline: 44 inches tall (75th percentile), 45 pounds (75th percentile) so she’s evened out a little. Her hearing and vision tests were good and she had a low pulse and blood pressure like her mama!

Luke: 39.5 inches (90th percentile), 35 pounds (75th percentile) so he’s about the same as last year in terms of percentile. His blood pressure was fine but his pulse was racing at 140+ bpm because he was so nervous!

I’m hoping next year will be better since they’ll be older, but I’m thinking I’ll take Caro out of school to do hers by herself and get a sitter for her when Luke goes since he’ll have to get a few shots at 4.
