Sick house

Last Friday, Caroline woke up with a bad runny nose, but since she didn’t have fever, I took her to school and went on to work. She did okay at school, but was pretty pitiful when we got home. She was a little worse on Saturday, then started running a slight fever that night. I stayed home from church with her that Sunday so as not to spread her germs. I figured it was just a cold since her fever wasn’t that high, but she started coughing later that day and seemed worse Monday morning. So I decided to go ahead and take her to the doctor thinking she probably had an ear infection with this “bad cold.” Well, I’m glad I did because she ended up having RSV and a double ear infection (just like last February). Poor baby! She was so pitiful that she had a bad breath-holding spell that morning right before we went to the doctor. It had been SO long since she had one, I was really surprised but she was having trouble taking a breath in because of being sick, so I think that’s what caused it. The doctor (and my boss) said she should be out from school for 5 days so that was the whole week! I was almost out of sick days at work, so Chris had to take off and stay with her in the afternoons so I could go to work :( but it all worked out in the end. Our school closed on Wednesday for icy weather, so at least I could stay with her that day and Chris could get some work done! It was really hard for Caroline being home so much, but we’re glad we made it through and she’s doing much better this weekend. We even made it to church this morning, but not without a major meltdown :(. But she was fine once she got to the nursery – I think she had fun playing with different toys than she has at home!

I did get to take some cute pictures of her in some of her Christmas outfits since she didn’t get to wear them out of the house this week!

Here’s my little joy and my sweet Caroline:

And here’s some from today with some silly faces playing in her box:

We’re so thankful she had a “light” case of RSV again and didn’t have to have breathing treatments or go to the hospital or anything more serious. And we’re glad she’s getting back to her old Caroline self! It’s back to school/work tomorrow for everyone for a short week before Christmas! Then I have my 16-week OB appointment on Tuesday to hear the heartbeat one more time before our ultrasound next month! I can’t wait! We might even be able to guess what this baby will be after getting the heart rate – seems to be high like a girl so far, so we’ll see if it drops this time. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
