Pomp and Circumstance and Pictures!

Yesterday we celebrated my being 37 weeks pregnant by taking a quick trip to Birmingham after church for Chris’ sister’s high school graduation. We were a little nervous traveling so close to my due date, but we figured it wouldn’t take long and at least we’d be with family if I went into labor while we were there. Plus, I didn’t want to stay home by myself or with Caroline all afternoon without Chris and then go into labor! Anyway, we had an easy trip there and put Caroline down for a nap when we arrived. Then the babysitter came to watch her so we could go to the graduation while she slept. I was a little uncomfortable sitting for so long in the car and then sitting during the graduation, but it was worth it to see “my” little sister at her ceremony :)

We took several pictures afterward:

then headed back to relieve the babysitter. Then we all went to dinner to celebrate the new graduate before heading back home. It was a relief to be back and to not have gone into labor on the road somewhere! And I’m glad we’re not leaving town again until after this baby is born!

Speaking of which, I had my 37-week appointment this morning and not much has changed since last week. The doctor said that I was still a few centimeters dilated, but that the baby’s head was SO low (+3 station): “any lower and he’d be coming out!” she said. So I could be like this for another few days or another couple of weeks! I’m just hoping he’ll hold out until my family can get here from so far away! Chris took this picture of me last night and you can see how low my belly looks – it seems like I’m holding it up!

In other news, I had been wanting to have some 2-year pictures of Caroline as well as some maternity ones made (since this might be my last pregnancy and I didn’t have any done with Caroline). So we had a good friend from church, Sarah Cruze, take some for us last month. It was a cool and windy day and Caroline wasn’t very cooperative (she just wanted to run around!), but we managed to get several good ones. I waited to post them because I wanted to print some for Mother’s Day gifts, so now that the day has come and gone, here are some of those:

I’ve posted the other pictures on picasa here and some more in a May folder, as well as one for Carrye’s graduation.
