Hello from Birmingham! We're staying with Chris' family after Wednesday's storms knocked out power to the whole city of Huntsville for several days. We're so thankful that we had no damage to our house and that we were safe inside! It was no fun being cooped up for 4 hours in the laundry room while being 8 1/2 months pregnant and trying to entertain a toddler, but we survived! We spend that night at home in the quiet and dark, but once we heard it would be a while before the power returned, we knew we had to leave. Chris' family had a tree fall on their house, but fortunately it only went through the attic and didn't come into the house... AND they had power! We were so thankful they were okay and live close by (relatively) and were willing to let us stay for a while. We've had a good time - Friday we ran some errands and went to the park, then Saturday we took Caroline to the zoo. It was her first time to visit a zoo and she LOVED it! She sat in her stroller the first half, then we let her walk/run around with her Elmo harness and it worked out well. I'll have to post pictures from the weekend later, but I did update our picasa site from Easter and April so check those out!
Today I'm 35 weeks along and have 35 (or less) more days to go! I'm so glad I had my 34-week check-up last week before all the storms, and I don't have to go back until the 9th. At my appointment, all my levels looked good and the baby's heart rate was in the 140s. I was still measuring a week behind, but I'm sort of relieved that maybe he won't be a huge baby! Also, the doctor was able to tell that he was head down already, which was also a relief! I've been feeling A LOT of movement and have also been having more contractions lately (just Braxton-Hicks). The doctor even noticed I was having one while she was checking me and said we'll hope for some progress at my next visit and an early delivery! I'm not counting on it, but it would be nice to have him a little early.
Pray with us for our state and those who lost so much! I'll try to give an update as soon as we can get power and get back home!
