Here’s some more about our “vacation” to Mississippi and what all we’ve been up to lately! Thanks for hanging in there with me as I catch up on documenting our life!
Monday (4/2): We drove from Birmingham to Jackson and arrived around 3, just in time for a little nap for the kids. We just hung out at my parents’ house.
Tuesday: That morning my brother’s little girl came over to play with Caroline and my mom had some friends come by to see us. Caroline had a blast with her cousin – it’s too bad we live so far apart and don’t see them more often! What’s more fun than dress-up and dancing?!
I had fun visiting with my friends from early days:
Then that night, my brother and his family came over for dinner so the kids got to play together some more. Here’s our attempt at a picture of all 5 grandchildren:
Jude, Aubrey, Caroline, Luke and baby Alaina!
Wednesday: Chris and I took the kids to visit some good friends that we knew from Huntsville (and Auburn before that) who had recently moved right outside of Jackson. We had a good visit while the kids played, then it was back for lunch and naps! After naps we got the kids ready to go eat dinner at my parents’ church and we stayed afterwards for the prayer meeting. It was busy trying to feed the kids (and ourselves) and talk to everyone too! After church we dropped Chris and the kids of at my parents’ so they could go to bed and we went to the airport to pick up my half-sister, Sherri. It would be her first time to meet Luke and my brother’s kids.
Thursday: My mom had a Bible study to go to, so we went to pick up my sister Sarah at the airport that morning. Then we dropped Sherri and Chris off at the house and took the kids to the church where my mom was finishing her study. We visited with some people there and then visited around the church staff, as well as some of our old elementary teachers at the Day School. It was fun to see many of those sweet ladies who were still teaching after all these years! The kids got a little crazy/restless, but it was fun!
That night we had my dad’s cousin's wife over for dinner. Then afterwards, we sat around and listened to my dad tell stories of his childhood – it was SO fun and a special time together!
After we were all about to head to bed, my mom started feeling bad all-of-a-sudden and threw up several times. She was pretty sick in the night and we were all worried she had a stomach bug!
Friday: We were all planning to take the kids to the Children’s Museum and meet my brother and his family there. Since my mom was sick, the rest of us went and had fun exploring this fantastic museum!
We got lots of sister shots:
That afternoon, my mom’s good friend Cathy arrived. She’s a nurse and since my mom was still feeling bad that evening, she stayed with her and the rest of us went out for dinner.
