One of the reasons we went to Birmingham on the way to Jackson was that Chris’ dad had bought tickets to an auto race that weekend. Chris had been wanting to see some Indy races, so the guys (Chris and his dad and brother) did that while the girls (Chris’ mom, sister and I) and Luke went to the Birmingham zoo. We had fun seeing all the animals, though it did get a little warm out. Caroline had been crazy and excited all morning, so she got tired about half-way through and wanted to ride in the stroller. So we took turns holding Luke so she could ride.
There were lots of lions – even one with pigtails!
But the neatest thing was this peacock:
As we stood there watching it, he fanned out his feathers and gave us a little show! It was just beautiful!
The guys had fun at the race and we all met back up for dinner with Chris’ family.
The next day was Palm Sunday and Luke turned 10 months! Here’s our big boy with his PopPop and bunny ears:
In his little bunny suit and with sweet “Rye”:
We had a little Easter egg hunt after church and naps in the front yard. Caroline LOVED finding the eggs that Gigi would throw out into the grass. Then when she found them all, Gigi would tell Caroline to look on the other side of the yard and she’d hide them again! This went on for almost an hour!
Caroline and the “Easter bunny”:
Later that evening we went to a nearby park and Caroline had a blast on the slides and running around:
Then the next day we headed for Jackson.
