August began with me being in isolation from the RAI pill and my parents being here helping with the kids and the house. Then the next week was the first week I was on my own with the kids in our new house. I didn’t have energy to do much, but we still had fun and had lots of friends come over to play and see our new digs. On Saturday, Chris and I took them to the new splash pad and they LOVED it:
Another day we went to the Train Depot to play in their playroom. Caroline had fun dressing up:
We kept one of Caroline’s good friends for a couple of days before her school started while her parents had to work. Caroline loved having an all-day playmate! We went to the Matrix (open gymnastics) one day and the children’s museum the other.
Luke was obsessed with this life-size Curious George!
Dress-up fun:
Thankfully, the next week was the first week of school! I was excited about them being at a new school where a lot of friends from church also attend. Here they are ready for Open House:
And on the first day of school:
I can’t believe Caroline is in Pre-K this year which means next year she’ll be in Kindergarten and go to big school!! :(. They both seemed to enjoy their new school and seeing familiar faces. Luke cried the first day or two at drop-off, but he did much better after he got used to it. I know they’ll both learn a lot this year, but more importantly I hope they’ll learn to be kind and get along with their peers!
We also took a trip to the Botanical Gardens. Every spring and summer they have tons of butterflies in the butterfly house. We hadn’t seen them yet this year, so we went there first this time. The kids both loved seeing all the butterflies and Caroline even warmed up to the idea of touching them and holding them on her finger.
We also saw some turtles and the kids enjoyed petting them:
Then we played in the sand, which they had been wanting to do for a long time!
This about sums up my children right now: one is a princess and insisted on going on a walk all dressed up; the other is obsessed with drains!
They LOVE playing in the backyard, especially with their water table (or the fountain) so we decided it was time to get out the kiddie pool. We put it at the bottom of the slide and they had a blast!
Our lawn mower needed some work and was in the shop for a couple of weeks so we had to borrow one from a friend. The only one they had was a riding lawn mower – I think Chris had a little more fun cutting the grass that day!
Caroline and her sweet friends at church:
And I’ll end with a few silly pics of my kiddos playing around:
Next up: September and Sisterpalooza!!
