You may remember the first Sisterpalooza, which was during Labor Day weekend back in 2010. Sarah and Sherri came to visit us and we only had little Caroline who was around 16 mos. We had so much fun that we decided we should get together every year! Well, the next year was right after Luke was born and we found out we had Chinese drywall and didn’t know when we’d be moving. Then the next year, some of us ended up being together in April, so we decided we wouldn’t meet again 5 months later. Plus, we were about to move! So this year, we were determined to get together and were excited to have all 4 sisters come! Beverly came all the way from Saudi Arabia, Sherri from California, and Sarah from Texas. We had a full house but were so excited to have everyone together and be in our new house!
Sarah arrived on Friday afternoon, which was 2 days after her birthday. We wanted to celebrate and got a fancy cake and balloons and took her out to her favorite place for dinner, Tazikis. Caroline was really excited to see Aunt Sarah and to “help” her eat her cake!
Beverly arrived late that night and we all pretty much went straight to bed! The next morning the 3 of us went to brunch at Another Broken Egg Café and it was delicious! I got the cinnamon roll french toast and it was heavenly!
We had fun catching up over brunch, then did some shopping before heading home to help Chris with lunch. That afternoon we relaxed and at an early dinner so we could go to the city Fair. We had never been to it here before and thought the kids might be old enough to enjoy it. There were lots of animals to see and touch and we saw the end of one of the zoo shows. The kids loved the SNAKE!!
Luke really took to Beverly and always wanted to be with her :).
And the camel took to Beverly too!
Luke refused to ride any rides, but Caroline was brave and wanted to ride the BIG Ferris Wheel. Sarah and I went with her and she giggled the whole time and wasn’t scared at all!
She rode a few more rides before it got too dark and we ran out of tickets, ha!
We rushed home to get the kids bathed and in bed so we could get to the airport and pick up sister #3, Sherri! It was so good to have everyone together! We chatted into the night!
Sunday morning we all went to church and came home to get a few pictures while everyone was all dressed up :). The kids were a little uncooperative, but we got a few decent ones.
Sunday afternoon we talked and rested, then had waffles for dinner. YUM!
Then Monday was Labor Day so Chris had off work and was able to go shopping with us and the kids (poor guy!). We went to Bridge Street and had some fun, then ate lunch when everyone was tired and hungry. We came home for naps and to get ready for my cousins who were coming for dinner. We made Hawaiian chicken for the grill and everyone brought sides. It was a lot of fun to see my aunt and most of my cousins! The weather even cooperated enough so that we could all be outside. Here’s a group shot:
One of my cousins wasn’t able to make it the night before, so she came over the next day for a visit. I dropped the kids off at school that morning, so it was nice and quiet and we could talk. We all ate leftovers together for lunch and visited some more after I picked up the kids from school.
Wednesday was Sarah’s last day with us and we visited a lot that morning and took pictures in our matching Sisterpalooza shirts I had ordered.
I love this candid one :)
We took Sarah to the airport in the afternoon and were so sad to see her go! That evening, Beverly and Sherri had offered to keep the kids so Chris and I could go out on a date! It was so nice and we were so excited to be out, just the two of us! My cousin Helen came over again to visit with my sisters some more while we were gone. We came home in time to put the kids to bed and talked some more.
Beverly left early the next morning and Chris and Sherri took her to the airport so I could get the kids ready for school. Chris brought Sherri back in time to go with me to take the kids, then we stopped by the library and talked some more (see a trend here?!). We were so tired when we got home that we both decided to take a short nap before lunch and picking up the kids from school! Then the kids and I took Sherri to the airport – we were all sad that all the sisters were gone and it was soooo quiet when we got home. The kids kept moping around and asking where everyone was. They had had so much fun with their aunts!
It was such a blessing to be able to spend time with these special sisters! We stayed up way too late sharing childhood stories and stories from our heart but it was all worth it! I can’t wait for us all to get together again next year at Sisterpalooza 2014!
