Caroline's height and weight hasn't changed much in the last week, but her brain is rapidly developing. Her brain's surface was smooth, but now it's taking on those characteristic grooves and indentations which allow for increased amount of brain tissue. And her bone marrow has taken over production of red blood cells rather than tissues groups and the spleen doing the job. This will help her to be able to thrive better on her own once she's born. Also, much of her lanugo is beginning to disappear now because both body fat and her brain are regulating her body temperature.
I forgot to write about our first childbirth class last week so I'll write about our first and second ones now. In the first class we talked about signs/symptoms of labor and how to tell false labor from true labor. Then we watched a video of a natural childbirth (no epidural) in which Chris closed his eyes during the actual birth (but who could blame him?). At the end we did some relaxation and breathing techniques.
In tonight's class we watched a video clip of Bill Cosby talking about the birth of their first child and how they took classes for natural childbirth and what the actual labor/delivery was like. He was HILARIOUS! We were all rolling with laughter! So then we talked about all the procedures they do to you when you show up to the hospital and while you're in labor. Then we did some more relaxation/breathing techniques. No birth video tonight so we'll have 2 to watch next week! So far very informative - I'm glad we're doing it!
