Our trip to the pediatrician today for Luke’s 2-month check-up was long and eventful. I ended up taking Caroline along because she had been congested and hoarse (but no fever)this week and I wanted to make sure she didn’t have ear infections and/or strep throat. Luke woke up early this morning, so it was time for him to eat again by the time we got there. I had pumped a bottle before we left, so I was trying to feed him and corral Caroline in the waiting room and later in the exam room. It was a little crazy with both of them getting checked out, but we made it through.
I was so curious to see Luke’s stats since he seems like such a big boy – well, he is! He weighs 13 lbs, 1 ounce (85th percentile), and is 24 1/2 inches long (90th percentile!). And his head is big too, 41.5 cm (85th percentile), so he’s big all over! I was looking back at Caroline’s records and she wasn’t that big until she was about 4 months old! Of course, girls have different growth charts, but STILL!!
Then at the end, Caroline had to get her throat swabbed for strep and Luke got his shots. She did great, but poor Luke screamed and cried! But I held him and comforted him and he calmed down after about 5 minutes while we waited for the step test results. Fortunately, she did NOT have strep and her ears looked clear! I was so relieved! It must be just a little cold. And Luke was a little fussy this afternoon, but I gave him some Tylenol and that seemed to help. I’m glad it’s over with for a couple of months and Caroline will be in school during his next appointment – ha!
