The week after our trip, Huntsville had it’s biggest snow storm in years! We got snowed in several days and the city pretty much shut down. But the kids enjoyed playing in the snow and we were even able to build a snowman! After a couple of days though, Caroline said she was tired of snow and just wanted it to go away so she could go back to school, ha! Me too!
But it was SO pretty seeing it all in the yard and street and houses.
The only problem was, we got so much snow and it was so wet and heavy that it made 2 of our trees in the back yard fall down! They were far away from the house, thankfully, but were so pretty and provided privacy in the back. We had to get some help cutting them up and hauling them away. While we were at it, we decided to cut down 2 trees in the front that weren’t looking good and were providing passage for squirrels to get up into the attic! Here’s before and after:
Since we had just returned from our trip and had been eating out so much, we decided to do a low-key Valentine’s this year and just went to Red Robin with the kids. We had done a lot of baking that week since we were snowed in, and the kids had fun helping with that:
And don’t forget the hot chocolate! Luke tried some for the first time – he loved it!
