We woke up early the next morning (Monday) to get all geared up for skiing! We walked Caroline down to the ski school for her lessons, then Chris and I hit the slopes! We skied ALL day! It was so fun exploring a new mountain - Vail has SO many runs and lifts! The weather was pretty good; it was snowing on and off most of the time. Vail had gotten 36 inches in the 3 days before we arrived, so we were still able to enjoy some of the good powder!
We had lunch at a café on top of the mountain, then skied until mid-afternoon when we were worn out! We had a little time to check on Caroline in her lesson (she was eating snow!), then went back to the condo to drop off our skis before we had to pick her up. She was SO glad to see us, but she had had fun:
After we got her changed, we headed over to the ice skating rink. Caroline was SO excited to try it out and she LOVED it! At first she was real unsteady and I had to hold both her hands, but before long she was skating on her own:
It was snowing like crazy! Every so often we had to warm up by the fire. All Caroline wanted to do was eat the snow!
After skating a hour or so, we worked up an appetite! We went to eat at a nice Mexican restaurant, El Sabor. It was at the base of the ski runs and had a beautiful view:
The next day, we dropped Caro off again and went skiing most of the day. It was much colder this day and really snowy, so we took several warming breaks. We ate lunch up at a mountain restaurant and skied some more.
We stopped by to see Caroline at ski school again – it seemed she was doing much better that day with her stopping and turning. She was promoted to the next level so she could ride up the gondola and ski on some flatter parts up on the mountain. Here she is in her ski school – purple pants, pink jacket toward the middle of the pic:
After skiing, we came back to change boots and add more layers to go tubing! It was SO fun!! Caroline had a blast and would squeal and scream all the way down the hill. Then she would have Chris pull her along the path to the magic carpet ride back up the hill:
We were really worn out after tubing, so we ate at a restaurant up on the mountain, Bistro 14. Caroline was so tired she was falling asleep at the table! But she still had energy for some shenanigans!
Tired twins!
One more trip post coming up!
