11 weeks

As we enter the 12th week, most of Sweet Pea's bodily systems are fully formed. Now begins a maintenance phase, where the systems continue to mature for the next 28 weeks and the organs get to work. Our little fetus weighs half an ounce now and is about 2 1/2 inches long, about the size of a large plum. Its digestive system is practicing contracting movements, and the pituitary gland at the base of the brain has started producing hormones. Also, the bone marrow is making white blood cells to one day help fight off infection.

In mommy land things are growing on the outside, if you know what I mean. My pants are getting snug and I'm moving on to bigger sizes... and to stretch pants soon! Most of my shirts are still wearable, but I'm sure it won't be long.

Yay! A hint for those pants: You can take a rubber band, wrap it around the button, through the button hole and back around the button. I did it with my jeans and was able to wear them until time for maternity pants! Just thought you might want to try it out...
