Check-up

I had my first official O.B. appointment this afternoon. Everything seems fine - we got to hear the heartbeat on the Doppler and they said it was about 170bpm and strong. They said it could fluctuate between 120 and 180, so it seemed on the upper side (maybe a girl??). They also said I'll have to get another RhoGAM shot at 28 weeks, so I'm good until February. We talked about getting the test for Down's (and other things), but we opted not to have that done. And we discussed whether I wanted a C-section or not, an epidural, how big each of us was at birth, and all that fun stuff. I think the doctor was glad I was choosing the epidural, but wanted to let me know I could "choose" to have a C-section (which I told her I did not, if I could help it!).

I scheduled my next 2 appointments for November 18th and December 19th (the ultrasound!!), so only 2 more months and we'll (hopefully) know what we're having! :)

SO EXCITING! From someone who has had two C-sections, I think you're wise to opt out on this unless you really need it. Recovery is no fun! We didn't do any testing either. I like all of y'all's choices (not that my opinion really matters -- just sharing)! Thanks for the update.

I'm glad your appointment went well! Aubrey's heartrate was always on the upper end too, until the end of the pregnancy when it slowed down a little.

I'm surprised your doctor will let you choose a c-section. Since it is major surgery and there are more risks involved, my doctor would only do one if it was medically necessary. All doctors are different though. My recovery was so easy, I don't know why anyone would choose to have a c-section. I guess to avoid the pain of labor! :)
