I can’t believe my baby girl is 3 years old today! She is so much fun and has been such a blessing to us! Our lives have been forever changed by her sweet spirit and lively personality. My 20+ year dream of motherhood was finally a reality 3 years ago when she was born!
One year:
Two:
And three!
As far as her stats go, I’m not too sure but we’ll see next week at her check-up. I think she’s about 34 pounds and around 37-38 inches. She wears some size 3T clothes, but mostly 4T; she wears size 8 or 8 1/2 shoes. She is doing great with potty training and has even been staying dry all night. We’ve been taking her to the potty before we go to bed and she’s been doing great! We used our last pull-up last night and I'm excited we don’t have to buy any more (for her at least!). I’m sure she’ll have accidents here and there, but I’m so proud of her!
She wakes up around 7 or 7:30 and we let her play with the iPad in her bed until we get dressed and ready around 8. She still takes a good nap on most days, usually around 2-4. Some days she’ll just sing and play in her bed until I tell her it’s time to get up. I know she’s probably not far from giving up her nap, but I’m glad she’ll play quietly. We usually put her to bed around 8, but if she’s had a nap she’ll talk and play until 9 or even closer to 10! Of course she’s out at 8 if she doesn’t nap.
I wanted to record some of the things she’s into right now and things she’s been doing. She still loves her baby doll and sleeps with her every night. She likes to change her clothes and diaper or take her to the potty. She also likes to feed her baby in her booster seat or Luke’s highchair. But what she’s really in to lately is Thomas the train. She’s been watching the show on Netflix for some time now, so we got her some trains and tracks for her birthday. They were a big hit!
We’ve also been getting movies from the library and she really liked Winnie the Pooh, Charlotte’s Web, Up, and Monsters, Inc. We tried to get her to watch Cinderella and some other Disney princess ones, but she seems to prefer Pixar for now ;).
Her favorite foods are chicken nuggets, french fries, Hamburger Helper (singles), fruit (bananas, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries), veggies (green beans, broccoli, asparagus), and potatoes. In the morning for breakfast, she likes to eat some form of O’s (fruity or apple), Frosted Mini Wheats, or Raisin Bran. For lunch she’ll eat a peanut butter and banana sandwich, turkey and cheese and crackers, hot dog, or chicken nuggets along with some sides. She’s getting a lot better about eating what I cook for dinner instead of me having to fix her something else.
She’s getting to that age where she repeats things she hears, and it’s not always the right context, so sometimes it’s pretty funny. It’s neat to see how her little mind works and makes sense of the world. I’ve been trying to write down what she says, usually on my phone, because I can never remember later. Here are a few of my favorite quotes:
- “My hair’s not pretty because I was sleeping and it falled.”
- She’s obsessed with her shadow and calls it her giant. “When it gets bright outside, then I can see my giant.”
- Thanks to the cartoon “Frances,” she’s also obsessed with tigers! They’re everywhere: in her room, in the house, outside, etc. She even likes to growl like a tiger. At least she chose the right animal – War Eagle!!
- Talking to Luke, “Do you understand me?” or “Don’t worry about that, Buddy!” or “There’s nothing to scream about, okay?!” She’s such the little mama!
- “My legs are white but they’re getting brown.” Okay, not sure where she heard that!
- And my favorite: “Mama, when I get to be 4, I can go on the jumpy thing at the mall!” “That’s right Caroline.” Then later we were driving in the car out in the country and I said, “Look Caroline! There are some horses. They’re eating grass.” And she replied, “When I get to be a horse, then I can eat the grass too!” I was in shock and just said, “No baby, you’ll never be a horse.”
