Luke took his first few steps last week! We managed to capture a few videos – this first one is a little long, I should have trimmed it, but the first part is good:
Caroline started walking right about this age too, so it’s been fun to think back to when she took her first steps!
In other news, we’ve finally moved Luke up to the bigger carseat we had in Chris’ car:
He’s such a big boy that he outgrew the infant seat before his birthday! Caroline was able to fit in hers until she was 15 months old! He was right at the height and weight limit a few weeks ago, so we knew it was time.
Last Thursday was Caroline’s last day of school! I took her picture in her back-pack so we could compare to her first day:
And last day:
She’s grown so much and learned a lot this year! I can’t wait to see what next year brings! Funny story: she goes a whole year at school without incident and on the last day, in the last 10 minutes before I picked her up, another child bit her! The teachers were all concerned and worried, but it wasn’t bad – she didn’t even cry!
She had her 3-year-old check-up today and they did all sorts of things! First they tested her vision: it was about 20/40, which they said is okay for her age since her vision is still developing. Then they weighed and measured her, like usual, and she was 35 pounds (85th percentile) and 38 inches (60th percentile)! So she’s gone up on the weight percentile and down on the height one – maybe she’ll be more like me than Chris! Her doctor said that was fine, as long as she was eating well and staying active, and that she would probably have another growth spurt this next year and thin out.
Anyway, then it was on to heartrate and blood pressure. They’ve never checked that on her before and she did great! Heart rate was 100 and bp was 90 something over 50 something, both normal. Then the doctor came in and did the usual questions about development, health, etc. She did have to get her finger pricked to check her iron levels, but she did great and didn’t cry - even her blood was clotting and the nurse had to squeeze her finger forever! Promises of a sucker and a sticker afterwards may have helped :). So thankful for a healthy girl!
